I started with the idea as a solution to a constant problem I was experiencing every week with animals getting into my trash cans. It was a big messy, disgusting chore to pick up all the waste, and not just mine but the neighbors were having the same problem with theirs!

 

I thought of the idea to use a secure latch but I didn’t want to manually unlock it when the trash truck arrives at 6:30 am, so it would need to unlock itself automatically. That’s how the weighted counter-lever idea came about. 

 

Problem solved! Inexpensive and easy installation! An easy solution to a huge problem!
